Where and When Did They Go

Saturn V or 5 was launched on July 16 th, 1969. The Apollo 11 crew went into the vacuum of space to reach the moon. They weren't the first men in space but first people to land on the moon. They had touch down on the moon on July 20 th, 1969, just four days after they left the ground. The crew stayed there for 21 hours and 36 minutes and returned back to earth. On July 24, 1969, they made it back to earth's fresh air and ground.
 

Who Was Envolved

The crew on board were Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin. Over 25 people worked in the Mission Control Center. The country that was envoled with this launch was the USA.

Discoveries

They discovered that getting to the moon was possible and they brought back samples of the lunar dirt and rocks for testing. They also took two core tube samples which were a 13 centimeters solid cylinder of rock.
 

Fun Facts

Fact 1. The flag that is on the moon was made by Sears.

Fact 2. Your cellphone is more powerful than the Apollo 11 computers.

Fact 3. The three men had to be quarantined for 3 weeks just in case.
